Travel Accessories for iphone - 25 Oct 2020 15:06

There are few events guaranteed to garner discussion, fanfare and excitement across the world. Sure, there’s exciting holidays like New Year’s Eve — but then there’s Apple’s new product keynote events.

The tech juggernaut made headlines yet again with the announcement of the highly anticipated iPhone 12 during its latest keynote presentation on Oct. 13. Four new iPhone 12 models are coming — and some are officially available for pre-order as of Oct. 16.

Don't forget to check out Best iPhone 12 Travel Accessories!

While new iPhones are historically made available for pre-order on the same day, this launch follows a new, staggered strategy. Only two of the four models are available for pre-order: the iPhone 12 and the iPhone Pro.

Pre-orders for the remaining two devices, iPhone 12 Mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, will begin on Nov. 6, and will be widely available starting on Nov. 13.

The iPhone 12 boasts a 6.1-inch “Super Retina XDR” display. In terms of size, it sits just between the soon-to-be-released iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Setting it apart from the iPhone 11 and many of the iPhone’s earlier iterations, the iPhone 12 lineup of phones features flat edges, maintaining a nearly edge-to-edge display.

The iPhone 12 runs on Apple’s new A14 bionic chip, which the company says guarantees 15 percent faster speeds and 30 percent more power efficiency than the A13 chip. Along with the other newly released iPhones, the iPhone 12 also supports mmWave and sub-6 5G connectivity in the U.S.

But one of the most shocking tidbits about these new Apple launches is the fact that EarPods and a charging adapter are no longer included in the iPhone’s box. (Shocking news, we know!)

So while you wait for your new device arrive, we’ve rounded up six must-have accessories to get in place of the previously included iPhone accessories.

Why you should buy it:

For the first time, Apple has decided to no longer include wired EarPods and a charging adapter in the box. Instead, the packaging will now just include the iPhone 12 and a USB-C cable.

To ensure that you can get the most out of your new iPhone, Apple’s latest AirPods Pros are a recommended investment. They’re currently $50 off on Amazon, so snag them before this deal ends. - Comments: 0

Folding table and chair - 25 Oct 2020 15:02

Tags:

On camping trips, a log or tree stump can often become the go-to seat, but nothing gives you the much-needed support and comfort after a day of activities quite like a camping chair.

With many camping chairs on the market – and lots of different styles and prices – finding the right one can feel like a bit of a mission. And if you have ever sat on a saggy and uncomfortable chair, you’ll understand the importance of choosing wisely.

Don't forget to check out Best Portable Folding Table And Chair Set!
A good camping chair should not only offer comfort, it should also be durable. It will take a lot of abuse from being tossed in the back of cars, dragged around and left out in harsh weather.

The best part of the chair is its two interchangeable standard and Terragrip feet. With the enhanced feet, you can sit on a sandy or muddy terrain without sinking. The legs are further joined together with a shock cord for enhanced stability.

The WildHorn chair is very durable, made from heavy-duty aircraft grade 7075 aluminium alloy making it completely rust and corrosion proof. In addition, the seat cover is removable and is machine washable.

There’s also a mesh fabric at the back of the chair for air flow. The only downside to this is that it is not cushioned for comfort.

Another good thing about this chair is storage. The poles slot apart easily and can be folded into the storage bag. The storage bag is made of mesh fabric and has Velcro carry scraps. This bag can be attached underneath the chair when not in use or used as a handy storage pouch for your torch, keys, and cell phone.

The downsides to this chair is that it is not so high off the floor and it is tight fit for most people over 90 kg despite the 150 kg weight limit.

The Johnny Relax camping chair from Qeedo is a great all-round seat that has a reinforced drinks cooler and cooling pocket integrated into the armrests, meaning you’ll no longer need to be up and down like a yoyo.

There is even a handy bottle opener integrated in the cooling pocket.

The chair folds out within seconds and is equally easy to put away. Unlike other chairs in this range, Qeedo hasn’t skimped on comfort either.

The padded headrest, relatively wide seating area and backrest, and double layer polyester leave you feeling supported and relaxed.

Perhaps our favourite part is that this folding camp chair can be converted into a recliner by opening up the foldable seat extension.

Based on the same idea as a Lazyboy couch, all you have to do is lean back with a bit of a push and and the foot part area upwards.

Lean forwards again to fold it back in. Once again avoiding the constant getting up and down or fiddling around with spare parts. - Comments: 0

Tunnel Tent for 2 People - 25 Oct 2020 14:55

Tags:

Tents come in many different styles and sizes, but the most useful type of one to have in yourgear cupboard, the one you’ll get most use out of, is a two-person tent( or a two-man tent).

We can’t think of many things better than being tucked up under the stars, protected from the elements after a big day in the mountains and ready for another big one the following day in something that doesn’t feel like a cocoon.

Don't forget to check out Best Tunnel Tents For 2 Person!

The best two person tents for hiking need to meet a tricky set of features: they need to provide enough space to become a comfortable home away from home for two and need to protect you from all the hail, rain, snow and/or wind the mountains can conceivably throw at you.

On top of requiring our two person tents to meet these fundamentals, it also helps when they’re lightweight, packable, low cost and quick to pitch.

Yes, these tents are inevitably going to be heavier than the tents we featured in our Best Solo Tents For Backpacking 2019 test, but as these backpacking tents are designed to accommodate two people, you’ll be able to split many of the components between yourself and your partner in an effort to evenly distribute weight.

Many of these tents can be split up into four different components; outer (fly), inner, pegs and poles.

Saying that, there’s also nothing better than having a two person tent all to yourself for what could possibly be the most comfortable night you’ll spend on the mountains (as long as you’ve also got your sleeping bag and sleeping mat setup dialled).

Those of us coming in taller than average will infinitely prefer the space offered in these tents, compared to the much smaller footprints typically found in ultra lightweight solo tents. - Comments: 0

Tunnel tents are fast becoming more and more popular on the campsite due to their unique shape and practicality.

For those of you who like a tent with an extension, such as an awning or porch, then you will love a tunnel tent.

Don't forget to check out Best Tunnel Tents For Camping!

The tunnel has more coverage, protection and is vastly more stable, due to it being manufactured directly onto the original structure of the tent.

Widely used by large camping groups because of the extra sheltered area, which can be used in a variety of ways, fast becoming one of the top camping tents for families.

The perfect spot for an outdoor dog bed, away from your sleeping area. More than enough space for a camping table and chairs to set up a dining area or to store your outdoor gear like bikes, kayaks and camping coolers.

Not only for extra space but there is an interesting natural feature, they hold up really well in strong winds due to the aerodynamic, tubular shape of the tunnel, giving you and yours peace of mind in a storm.

Discover our choices for the best tunnel tents for camping on the market today. Our list is mainly dominated by Vango and Coleman models, as expected, with a few options from Ozark Trail, Skandika and Easy Camp joining us.

They range in capacity and design, and we’ve picked out favorite brands with the highest quality materials and overall structures.

5-person family tunnel tent uses its tapered end to emulate a secluded sleeping space for a better rest. The bedrooms are classified as extra-large have a blackout effect that reduces 99% of sunlight from entering.

This helps everyone control their sleep system, so they don’t have to wake up at sunrise. The main section is large enough to stand up in and we think it has enough room for a table and chairs to enjoy an indoor dining experience. - Comments: 0

Heated Insoles - 25 Oct 2020 14:47

Tags:

Heated insoles serve two purposes: they improve the fit of your shoes, and they help keep your feet warm.

Heated insoles are removable, and they can generally be used in all types of shoes. Many people find them to be must-haves in the winter — especially those who engage in winter sports like skiing and snowboarding.

Don't forget to check out Best Heated Insoles!

If you enjoy spending long periods of time outdoors in the cold, heated insoles help reduce the risk of uncomfortable feet and toes.

Heated insole features

Let's first consider some of the key features to evaluate as you shop for heated insoles.

Number of uses: For those who prefer one-and-done heated insoles, single-use options are available that provide up to nine hours of warmth. Battery-operated heated insoles are also available; these insoles come with a rechargeable battery that delivers all-day warmth.

Adhesive: Heated insoles commonly include self-adhesive covers and strips that help keep them in place.

Base-level settings: If you pick up electric heated insoles, you will probably be able to take advantage of different base-level settings. These settings allow you to adjust the heat level.

Activation: Single-use heated insoles are usually activated by shaking the insoles in air, while battery-operated insoles can be activated with the push of a button. Both types of heated insoles tend to heat up within 15 to 30 minutes of activation.

Design: Heated insoles are usually thin and able to fit in large or small shoes and boots. In certain instances, the insoles may need to be trimmed so they fit comfortably inside your footwear.

Eco-friendly: If you're on the lookout for environmentally friendly heated insoles, options are available that contain eco-friendly components. For example, you might purchase a pair of reusable heated insoles that can be washed. Just be sure not to expose any electrical or battery components to water!

Quantity: Single-use heated insoles are frequently sold in packages that contain up to 30 pairs.

Batteries: Electric heated insoles often use lithium-ion polymer batteries. These batteries sometimes require a few hours to charge, but they can be recharged hundreds of times before they need to be replaced.

Water resistance: No one wants heated insoles that stop working if they get wet. If you plan to spend lots of time playing in the snow, it is generally a good idea to pick up water-resistant heated insoles.

Safe and easy to throw away: Single-use heated insoles are often made of materials that won't harm the environment, and you can dispose of these insoles in the same way you would dispose of everyday garbage. - Comments: 0

GPS Smartwatch - 25 Oct 2020 14:43

Smartwatches are a great way to receive notifications from your phone and track your health, right from your wrist. We've used and reviewed all the of the latest smartwatches for Android and iPhone, and here we've ranked ten of the best.

The Apple Watch Series 6 may seem like the obvious choice for iPhone users, but there are loads of great Wear OS rivals to choose from via Huawei, Motorola and others.

Don't forget to check out Best Waterproof GPS Smartwatch For Men!

Add in hybrid smartwatches from the likes of Withings and Fossil, and you're bound to find something that suits your style and has the features you need.

Looking for other wearable tech? Take a look at our recommendations for smart wallets and smart rings.

It's unsurprising that the Series 6 is the best Apple Watch to date and remains the best smartwatch you can buy - if you have an iPhone that is.

This model has been improved namely with an always-on altimeter and blood oxygen monitoring alongside improvements to the always-on display. The price varies wildly depending on how luxurious you want to go with the combination of material and straps, but the good thing is that the watch itself is still the same at the base price.

The Apple Watch SE is also a viable alternative for those that aren't too fussed about features like ECG and blood oxygen monitoring and want to save a bit of money on an Apple Watch.

The Galaxy Watch 3 is among the best smartwatches available at the moment, topped only by the Apple Watch Series 6. The thinner, lighter body and larger display of the Galaxy Watch 3 make for a premium look, and the rotating bezel continues to outshine the competition as the most intuitive way to interact with a smartwatch.

The Tizen OS 5.5 user experience is not quite as extensive when it comes to fitness as dedicated trackers, but it still offers an impressive feature set, with automatic tracking for seven types of exercise, along with the ability to take VO2 Max, ECG and SpO2 readings (in countries where it has certification).

It’s one of the best all-round smartwatches you’ll find on Android, and there’s a lot for iOS users to like too. - Comments: 0

Jetboil Cooking System - 25 Oct 2020 14:38

Tags:

The Jetboil Zip is a small and simple integrated canister stove. It's 0.75-liter pot makes it a bit more packable than some other stoves in this category. The burner and pot connect securely, and the integrated design improves fuel efficiency.

However, we've become used to the wire control valves and reliable piezo igniters found on top models. The tiny knob on the Zip can be hard to operate when the stove is about to boil over, and we had to remember which backpack pocket our lighter was in whenever it was time for a hot drink.

Don't forget to check out Jetboil Zip Cooking System Review!

However, for folks on a budget who are willing to forgo these nice extras, this stove could still be a good choice.

Fuel Efficiency

The Zip is fairly efficient for an integrated canister stove. Though it only used 0.2 ounces of fuel in our no wind boil test, we say "fairly" because of the pot's low capacity. The pot on the zip only holds 0.75 liters of water when full to the brim.

We tested it with 0.5 liters of water; the other stoves were tested with 1 liter. That said, if we doubled the fuel burned (and we think that would be an overestimation), the Zip would still be performing respectably for an integrated canister stove and well compared to many other stoves in this review.

In our 2-4 mph fan test, the Zip burned 50% more fuel.
Weight

At 10.6 ounces (300 grams), the Zip is the lightest integrated canister stove in our review and one of the lighter stoves in general when you take into account that a pot is included.

This weight does not include the canister stand (0.9 ounces) or the small plastic cup that comes with the stove.

Remember that the Zip comes with the smaller JetBoil pot, which holds 0.75 liters when filled to the brim. For a couple of ounces more, you can get one of their 1-liter pots.

Simmering Ability

Integrated canister stoves are generally not built to simmer. The Zip can technically simmer, but it's not great at it. That said, the control valve sensitivity isn't too bad, and the small diameter of the pot means that, with a little stirring, it's easy to keep the middle from getting scorched.

Ease Of Use

At the dawn of the integrated canister stove category, we would have thought this model was pretty easy to use, because back then all stoves like this were easier to use than others. Nowadays, however, the fact that there's no piezoelectric igniter makes the Zip feel old-fashioned for a Jetboil. - Comments: 0

Smartwatch for Kids - 25 Oct 2020 14:34

Tags:

Like wearable devices for grown-ups, kids’ watches have come a long way in both function and features in recent years. Our top picks include kids’ smartwatches that focus on two-way communication, GPS tracking, fitness tracking, and built-in cameras.

We’ve highlighted smartwatches that are easy for kids to use and offer durability with heavy-duty bands, protected touch screens, and waterproofing.

Don't forget to check out Best Smartwatch for Kids.

Due to the compatibility issues that can plague kids’ smartwatches, we’ve stuck to recommendations that have the reputation and technical support of a wireless provider or name brand behind them.

Verizon’s GizmoWatch 2 ticked all our boxes for fun and function—we made it our top pick. It has two-way calling and messaging, a fitness tracker, GPS tracking, and sturdy design. The only drawback is the required two-year Verizon contract.

If you’re looking for a smartwatch that offers a myriad of features to satisfy both parents and kids, the GizmoWatch 2 is an excellent place to start. This kids’ watch is like a basic smartphone for little wrists, geared toward ages 4 to 12.

Equipped with GPS location and two-way communication via voice and messaging powered by Verizon’s network, caretakers will enjoy the reassurance of keeping close tabs on children. Parents can set up GPS boundaries, geofencing, and automatic notifications for when kids travel outside of approved locations.

This smartwatch is convenient for little hands to manage, with a large touchscreen that provides notifications for 10 trusted contacts alongside game features and a step tracker to encourage activity.

A wide, durable strap and water-resistant features make the GizmoWatch suitable even for young children who engage in more than a little rough-and-tumble play. The downside to the GizmoWatch’s powerhouse of features is that it does lock you into using Verizon and requires a two-year contract.

VTech understands that kids just wanna have fun, so its smartwatch aims to provide exactly that. While you won’t find GPS tracking or two-way communication functions, this affordable smartwatch is essentially a mini gaming device, packed with educational activities and interaction to keep little ones busy.

From telling time to motion sensors for active games and AR (augmented reality) capabilities, parents will appreciate the built-in learning boost. Dual cameras let kids take video or craft the perfect selfie, which is sure to be a hit with the elementary school crowd.

If, however, your goal is to keep track of your little wanderer or have a quick chat about who to expect at pickup after school, this smartwatch isn’t designed to meet those needs. Also, be warned that while it’s splash-proof, VTech admits that submerging your Kidizoom won’t end well because it stops short of being waterproof. - Comments: 0

In the never-ending journey for the ultimate survival arm, a quest buried deep in the DNA of everyone concerned with preparedness, yet another giant leap in the evolution of survival arm capability just spread it wings across the USA (via gun stores, UPS and FedEx).

The Magpul X-22 Backpacker Stock for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown is finally available!

Don't forget to checkout Best Solo Backpacking Stoves.

Magpul X-22 Backpacker Stock Review: Ultimate Survival Arm

It took almost 50 years for Ruger to take the 10/22 from a one-piece 37” wooden stocked masterpiece to a two-piece 37” plastic stocked vision of the future. Then a scant five years later, Magpul teased us with it’s X-22 Backpacker at SHOT Show 2017.

Magpul took the essence of the Takedown to it’s rightful destiny creating a dynamic, integrated, self-contained survival rifle that is just at home in a home, active in the field, or packed away discreetly in a the bug out bag.

For the moment, and likely for many more moments into the future, a Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock filled with Ruger 10/22 and upgrades is the best, yes the best option for such a compact bullet-throwing machine.

Add in the shear depth of importance of such an item when the SHTF making every decision and purchase and rifle build just that much more critical. So for this build, I addressed three particular survival gun tangents that are critical to preparedness and performance. The three tangents are

1) Mobility and Concealment,
2) Operational Accountability, and
3) Overall Durability. - Comments: 0

Coffee Machine Review - 25 Oct 2020 14:26

Tags:

Whether you’re looking for a portable espresso maker to take camping or to use in an Airbnb while on the roast; it’s important to find one that actually makes espresso. Between scalding hot water and high pressure, espresso makers require precise tolerances and careful engineering to function to produce a rich and cream-rich shot.

Portable espresso makers take these constraints….and add the additional complexity of miniaturization. Make sure to start each morning of your vacation off with a shot of freshly brewed espresso instead of with frustration and under-extracted brown water!

Make Sure to check out Best Portable Espresso And Coffee Machine Review.

The 10 options below run the gamut from ‘ultra-light’ to ‘modern-art’ and all produce reliable espresso in a matter of minutes. No 2 are the same, however, so which portable espresso machine will fit your needs? Let’s find out.

How important is portability (and weight) for you?

When it comes to deciding on bringing a coffee brewer on your trip, weight may be the deciding factor if you’re highly mobile (i.e. a ‘digital nomad’). Nobody in their right mind would bring a traditional home espresso maker with them, but the portable options do vary greatly in weight too.

While all of the espresso makers below are ‘portable’ (in that they come with carrying cases, are durable, and compact), they vary considerably in weight. Some are light enough to reasonably bring along on a multi-day hike, while others are better suited to less weight dependent ventures like canoe camping or an airline’s checked luggage.

Ultra Light (<340 grams)

If you intend on backpacking or hiking and waking up to a shot of espresso in a new location daily; then ultra light is the ideal option (unless you are a glutton for both espresso and punishment). Most backpackers tolerate instant coffee as an adequate substitute for the real thing, but we’re here to drink espresso so let’s just assume that isn’t going to cut it.

The lightest portable espresso makers are in the 220-340 gram (8-12 ounce) range and if you pack well can easily be accommodated on a multi-day trek. Have more than one person coming along? Perfect, have them carry some of your gear and treat them to a shot of espresso each morning for their trouble. - Comments: 0
